(Shalom! This video was made early in our journey. We realize now, that replacing the name יהוה is transgression of Torah by adding to and taking away from it. We now do NOT do this, but as stated above, we were on a journey and at the time this video was made, we did NOT have this revelation. Thanks for understanding! Shalom.)
So, if Yeshua came to “testify to the truth”, what truth was he talking about?? Pilot obviously didn’t know! Maybe the Scriptures say something about this “mysterious” truth! Let look!
Now listen to me: I will give you counsel, and God be with you. You be the people’s representative before God, and you bring the disputes to God, then teach them the statutes and the laws, and make known to them the way in which they are to walk and the work they are to do. Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties and of tens. (Exodus 18:19-21 NASB)
So we know truth has an important role in Leadership!
Let’s look at another passage!
He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. (Deuteronomy 32:4 KJV)
So we see here that this truth is a characteristic of Yehovah himself! His ways are judgement, God of truth! So could his ways be truth as well?? Let’s look at some more scripture! After all, we should let scripture define itself right?? I mean there are a lot of interpretations out there that are just that, mans interpretation! So maybe we should stop believing what man says, and start believing what God said!
Let’s read some of what David had to say!
To You, O Yehovah, I lift up my soul. O my God, in You I trust, Do not let me be ashamed; Do not let my enemies exult over me. Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed; Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed. Make me know Your ways, O Yehovah; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day. Remember, O Yehovah, Your compassion and Your lovingkindnesses, For they have been from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions; According to Your lovingkindness remember me, For Your goodness’ sake, O Yehovah. Good and upright is the Yehovah; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way. All the paths of the Yehovah are lovingkindness and truth To those who keep His covenant and His testimonies. (Psalms 25:1-10 NASB)
Wow, that was a long one! Are you still with me? Good, well let’s unpack this verse!
Make me know your ways, lead me in truth??
This sounds like maybe his way is truth, right?
He also says YEHOVAH’S compassion and loving kindness are from old! I thought the God of the Old Testament was all about wrath, and then Jesus came and changed that! Uh oh, I’m beginning to get the fealing that I may have been taught someone’s opinion and not the actual truth!
He instructs sinners in “the way” and leads the humble in Justice and teaches the humble his way.
Could this mean that His way is truth??
David goes on to say this,
All the paths of Yehovah are lovingkindness and truth.
Does this statement apply to everyone?? Oh wait we have to keep reading!
He says this applies to a specific group of people!
To those who keep His covenant and His testimonies. (Psalms 25:10)
Wow! I thought the old was done away with and the new was brought in with Jesus! I’m beginning to think this Jesus guy isn’t the same as Yeshua the messiah! I mean, Yeshua came to testify to the truth, to save that which was lost! To restore the things of old! The Jesus that’s preached in the Christian church today, came to do away with all of the old. But I’m still a little confused! If it was impossible to follow the commands of God, why did David love his ways?? Maybe His Law is the truth that Yeshua testified to?? Again let’s let scripture define this!
My zeal has consumed me, Because my adversaries have forgotten Your words. Your word is very pure, Therefore Your servant loves it. I am small and despised, Yet I do not forget Your precepts. Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth. Trouble and anguish have come upon me, Yet Your commandments are my delight. Your testimonies are righteous forever; Give me understanding that I may live. (Psalms 119:139-144 NASB)
Wait, did he just say “your Law is truth”? And that Gods commandments are his delight??
Why are we told that His commands were done away with?? And that his Law was done away with?? The same thing must have been happening in Yeshuas time! Were the religious leaders of the day doing the same thing? Teaching mans opinion rather than the word of Yehovah?? Let see what Yeshua had to say about it!
Then some Pharisees and scribes came to Yeshua from Jerusalem and said, “Why do Your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.” And He answered and said to them, “Why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? (Matthew 15:1-3 NASB)
So they were judging according to what they thought was true (which by the way washing hands before you eat is not a command of God but that of the rabbis)! Yeshua was judging according to the commandment of God, or TRUTH!
If we go on in this story, Yeshua calls the Pharisees hypocrites and then quotes Isaiah 29.
You hypocrites, rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you: ‘T his people honors M e with their lips, B ut their heart is far away from M e. ‘B ut in vain do they worship M e, T eaching as doctrines the precepts of men.'” (Matthew 15:7-9 NASB)
So, what is truth?? Well the bible defines it as “The Torah” (תורה) or Gods Law! David delighted in it, Yeshua and all the disciples walked in it! So why are we taught we don’t have to?? Maybe we have been “teaching as doctrines, the precepts of men!”
So what is good doctrine??
Proverbs 4:1, 2
Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding; For I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law. (Proverbs 4:1, 2 NKJV)
Wow! Maybe we should begin to go into the Scriptures and see for ourselves what truth is! I am confident that what we have been taught in church, is NOT truth but precepts of men! It’s definitely time to leave Babylon!
