Outcry Ministries | What’s The Big Deal About Christmas? – Learn Torah

If you are an American or were raised within a western culture, you are probably familiar with the emphasis placed on Christmas. It is such a cultural event that many employers either close or operate on a reduced staff. People leave their homes and travel to visit family and friends. Some attend church. Some sing songs. Some have Christmas Trees with tinsel, ornaments and presents. And some expect Santa Clause to bring them presents. In this article, I explore the following questions from a Torah perspective: Is Christmas found in the bible? What are the origins of Christmas? Does The Most High, The Creator, care if we gather and feast on December 25? And, what if any, are the consequences of observing and gathering for Christmas?

Having been raised an American Catholic, I didn’t think to question the origins of Christmas until later in life. In fact, I didn’t question the origin of ANY holiday. In general, the Catholic Church has never favorably looked upon questions regarding its authority or its claims. Catholic families that I knew, including my family, did not compare the Catholic bible with other bibles, nor did we translate or compare words from any bible into Latin, Greek or Hebrew. My experience is that most Catholic, Christian and Jewish families have been conditioned to NOT question the writings, doctrine or mighty ones of these religious institutions.

When I ask others why they observe Christmas, the most common answer is “to celebrate the birth of baby Jesus” or, “because that’s what we’ve always done”. Over the last few years I have begun to deconstruct and examine some religious and cultural norms, including holidays that are accepted without thought or question. In this article, I will share some of the things that I have learned along “The Way”. Before I begin let me be clear, I am not an authority or an expert. I highly recommend that you do your own instigation. As we are told in Philippians 2:12 “…work out your own deliverance with fear and trembling,…”

To begin, I will point out seven Torah concepts to help clarify my position:
1. Deuteronomy 12:32 “All the words I am commanding you, guard to do it – do not add to it nor take away from it.” (Concept 1: The Creator tells us to do what He has commanded. He is also telling us to not change, add or remove His commands from His Torah.)

2. Ex.12:6-20, 13:3-10, 23:16, 34:18,22; Lev. 16:29-31, 23:15-16,26-32,33-39, 25:5-6, 23:6-11; Num. 9:2-3, 28:16-25, 29:1,7,12,35, 33:3-4; Deut. 16:1-4,8-9,13; Ezekiel 45:21; Neh. 8:18, John 7:10,37. (Concept 2: YHVH commands that we observe ONLY His Sabbaths and Festivals which are known as holy days or holidays. This action of observing His holidays identifies us, it MARKS us and SETS US APART as His. The action of observing holidays that are NOT found in Torah marks us DIFFERENTLY and does not set us apart.)

3. Exodus 34:14 “for you do not bow yourselves to another mighty one, for YHVH, whose Name is jealous, is a jealous El” (Concept 3: YHVH is making it very clear that He does not want us worshiping other mighty ones and refers to this practice as adultery and whoring. How would you feel, and what would you do if your love was whoring around in an adulteress relationship?)

4. Leviticus chapter 26. (Concept 4: Looking at the creation story, we see there is ONLY one thing over which we were given COMPLETE CONTROL, it is our freedom to choose. EVERYTHING else is designed, created, controlled and owned by Him, including our body, our seed, our spirit, our labor, our intellectual property and the knowledge and wisdom from whence it came. (See Proverbs 8 for more on wisdom and knowledge). And what is the choice that He presents to each of us? The answer is, our choice of obedience or disobedience. For every cause there is an effect and every action an equal and opposite reaction. For choosing obedience and acting obediently, there are blessings. For choosing disobedience and acting disobediently, there are curses.

5. Isaiah 30: 1 “Woe to the stubborn children,” declares YHVH, “to make counsel, but not from Me, and to devise plans, but not of My Breath, in order to add sin to sin…” Isaiah 30: 9-13 “…that this is a rebellious people, lying children, children who refuse to hear the Torah of YHVH, who says to the seers, “Do not see,” and to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us what is right. Speak to us what is smooth, prophesy deceits. Turn aside from the way, swerve from the path, cause the Set-apart One of Yisra’el to cease from before us.” Therefore thus said the Set-apart One of Yisra’el, “Because you despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and rely on them, therefore this crookedness is to you like a breach ready to fall, a bulge in a wall, whose breaking comes suddenly, swiftly.”” (Concept 5: Isaiah the prophet, sent by YHVH, was told by the children of Yisra’el that they didn’t like Isaiah’s message because it wasn’t nice. Further, these rebellious disobedient children told Isaiah to stop telling them the truth and start telling them lies that were more pleasant. Doesn’t that sound like an immature child who is not mature enough to understand the consequence of their actions?)

6. Jeremiah 17:5 “Thus said YHVH, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes his flesh his arm, and whose heart turns away from YHVH””; Jeremiah 17:7-8 “Blessed is the man who trusts in YHVH, and whose trust is YHVH. For he shall be the tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and does not see when heat comes. And his leaf shall be green, and in the year of drought he is not anxious, nor does he cease from yielding fruit.” (Concept 6: Back to freedom of choice. We can choose to trust man and be cursed. Or, we can choose to trust YHVH and be blessed.)

7. Ecclesiastes 12: 11-14 “The words of the wise are like goads, and as nails driven by the masters of collections – they were given by one Shepherd. And besides these, my son, be warned – the making of many books has no end, and much study is a wearying end of the flesh. Let us hear the conclusion of the entire matter: Fear Elohim and guard His commands, for this applies to all mankind! For Elohim shall bring every work into right ruling, including all that is hidden, whether good or whether evil.” (Concept 7: This passage was written by Solomon and he is saying that knowledge itself comes from YHVH therefore the highest concern FOR ALL is to Fear Elohim and guard His commands. For more about knowledge see Proverbs 8.)

Now we are ready to begin the question, “What are the origins of Christmas?” By the way, if you don’t care for my answer, I challenge you to do your own study. I offer that you may start with a simple internet search by typing “origins of Christmas” or “origins of Christianity”. You will find an abundance of material to read.

The following is an except from www.nazarite.net about the origins of Christmas, just one of the many sites dedicated to sharing historical origins:

“Christian Holidays are ancient pagan feasts that were ushered in by the Roman Catholic Church during the rule of emperor Constantine. Constantine was a pagan sun-worshipper who had a “Christian experience” that wanted to unite his empire, both Christian and pagan together. He achieved this by re- writing history and re-naming pagan feasts with Christian names.

Christmas was celebrated by pagan sun-worshippers for thousands of years before the Messiah was even born. It all started during the building of the tower of Babel. Nimrod supervised the operation and was called the sun-god and worshipped as such. To end this worship, Nimrod’s uncle Shem, Noah’s eldest son, killed Nimrod and cut his body into small pieces then scattered his body parts across the land.

Ishtar or Easter, also known by her biblical name Semiramis was the widow of Nimrod. She was called the “Queen of heaven” and claimed to have been impregnated by Nimrod through the rays of the sun and later had a son by the name of Tammuz who had a miraculous birth on December 25th. Pagans believed that Nimrod was reincarnated as Tammuz and so Easter married her son Tammuz. Pagan sun-worshippers celebrated the birthday of the reincarnate sun-god on December 25th. Scripture is very clear that we are not to celebrate this particular holiday.

The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead the dough, to make cakes to the Queen of Heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to other deities, that they may provoke Me to anger. (HIM Jeremiah 7:18)

The passage above is obviously referring to making Christmas cookies and leaving those cookies and a glass of milk for Nimrod’s widow Easter who was called the queen of heaven. The only difference is now those offerings are left for Santa (Satan) himself. Let’s move on and read another passage from Scripture.

Thus says YaHuWaH, “Do not learn the way of the gentiles, and do not be dismayed at the signs of the heaven; for the gentiles are dismayed at them. For the customs of the peoples are vanity; for one cuts a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it not move. (HIM Jeremiah 10:2-4)

This passage is obviously referring to cutting down the Christmas tree, putting it on some sort of tree stand, and decorating it. Once you learn why it had become customary to use an erect evergreen tree that has a pointed end decorate it with big red balls you will realize the extent of the perversion in this holiday. The erect tree symbolizes Nimrod’s erect masculinity. The tree was evergreen because evergreen trees are full of life year round, like Nimrod’s penis. The tree was pointed at the end just like Nimrod’s pecker. The big red balls that dangle off the tree, well you get the picture. This holiday is perversion at its best.

Every sun-god was born on December 25th. Amun-Ra, Horus, Mithra, Tammuz, and Zeus were born on December 25th. If there was one day that the Messiah was not born, it was December 25th. In fact the Scripture is quite clear that Messiah was born late September or early October on the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles.”

In addition to conjuring up her sick and twisted Christmas tree symbolism of Nimrod’s penis, “the queen of heaven” added one more tradition of placing presents under the Christmas tree. Her intent was to have the people, usually children, get on their knees to pick up presents thereby engaged in the physical act of bowing down worshiping before Nimrod’s manhood.

Isn’t it interesting to find churches that display a Christmas tree? I hope that you are now asking yourself: If religious institutions are condoning or teaching Christmas, what other false doctrines are they teaching and false mighty ones are they worshiping?

Jeremiah 17:5 “Thus said YHVH, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes his flesh his arm, and whose heart turns away from YHVH””;

Jeremiah 17:7-8 “Blessed is the man who trusts in YHVH, and whose trust is YHVH. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and does not see when heat comes. And his leaf shall be green, and in the year of drought he is not anxious, nor does he cease from yielding fruit.”

If you would like to do a more in depth reading on this subject, here is a link to Alexander Hislop’s “The Two Babylons – proof that Roman Catholic beliefs came from pagan Babylonian religion”, Click Here.

Can a bad tree produce good fruit? Both Matthew and Luke agree that a good tree can not produce bad fruit and a bad tree can not produce good fruit. (Matthew 7:17-18, 12:33; Luke 6:43). If you take a critical and honest look at Christmas, you will see that its tree, the doctrine its founded upon, along with its mighty one is false and the fruit it produces is bad. It makes no difference if occasionally some good is achieved, the fruit is still bad to the core. All you have to do is look at the fruit and test it with the Torah to determine if it is truly from YHVH!

The Torah is so restrictive. The whole WORLD is taking time off to celebrate, gather and feast on Christmas! Everybody’s doing it! “What’s the harm of getting together with friends and family on December 25 to celebrate this feast?” These are the words of an immature child who does not yet understand the consequence of their words and actions. I employed this tactic myself as a child. I remember my dad asking me: “are you going to jump off a cliff just because everyone else is doing it?” Exodus 34:14 “for you do not bow yourselves to another mighty one, for YHVH, whose Name is jealous, is a jealous El”.

Here’s my problem with getting together with friends and family on December 25. It is in direct opposition to YHVH and His Torah. It is an action that shows a serious lack of respect and love for YHVH. How are we to show YHVH our love?

“The one who says, “I know Him, “ and does not guard His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him”, (1 John 2:4).

He tells us very simply that ONLY those who obey His commands are the ones who love Him!!! Read 1 John 2:4 again!

Who in their right mind would intentionally offend The Creator, King and most powerful being of ALL? Consider the examples of those who angered or offended YHVH. We are commanded over 400 times to NOT fear. Yet, we are told to fear only ONE thing, YHVH! (Ecclesiastes 5:7, 8:12-13, 12:13; Revelation 14:7).

Some have asked me why I no longer gather or feast on December 25. Now you now know answer. However in asking me this question, and me having answered your question, I have fulfilled the command in Ezekiel 33. Therefore, you may no longer claim ignorance on this matter. Having informed you, YOU are now LIABLE under the same command found in Ezekiel 33. The question now becomes, what are you going to do? Will you take action and obey His commands in expectation of His promised blessings or will you take no action and disobey His commands and hope you will somehow avoid His promised curses? I hope you the best with the latter. He has given you the freedom to choose. I hope you choose wisely.

Whether we take action or we take no action, we ARE serving somebody, a phenomenon grasped yet beyond human comprehension. So if we are serving somebody anyway, wouldn’t it be preferable that we serve the right somebody? I prefer to serve the Creator and not the created, how about you? I suggest a simple course of action. First stop listening to teachers of false doctrine who serve false mighty ones. No man or institution has been given authority from YHVH to intercede on our behalf. They may claim authority but that doesn’t make it so. Their proof is of their own making, and again bad fruit. Take action and begin learning the Torah and His commands. Finally, continue with action and incorporate what you’ve learned into your daily life. Go directly to YHVH and speak to Him for yourself:

Philippians 2:12 “…work out your own deliverance with fear and trembling,…”.

Shalom.

Learn Torah | Read On – Outcry Ministries

I’ve become a man obsessed.  I cannot read a single bible verse anymore.  Every time I see a verse on some “verse of the day” or bumper sticker or one of those gas-station signs outside a big church (you know the ones, they have to use a backward 2 to make an ‘S’ because they didn’t have enough?)  I am suspicious.  I have to go read the whole chapter. I’ve stopped starting in the middle of a chapter.  I’ve stopped referencing CONCEPTS within the bible by their verse, only by the chapter.  You see, we’ve been duped. But it’s our fault.  We’re SO hurried, but lazy, that we would much rather pull a quippy inspirational quote than to understand the context in which it was written.  We can prove almost anything by taking it out of context.

We’ve just gotten through another election season, and it doesn’t take a genius to tell that every ad is a lie.  By lie I mean, ‘Part truth’  It’s the oldest trick in the book.  Taking a few words that a person says, and hanging them on them, is the basis of our democratic process.  For instance, At the top of this article I said, and I quote, “I cannot read a single bible verse anymore.” See? It’s right there in black and white. This man hates the bible. But what was that man really saying?  Did he stop believing the bible?  Is he illiterate?  Read on. He reads whole chapters instead.

Read On.  This is my new motto.  This applies to the bible in a huge way.  So many, who have come before us, have taken verses out of context to make their point.  I’m certain we do it too.  For instance, in Joshua 1, Yehovah is placing Joshua in charge of all the Israelites, to be their military leader.  He’s being bolstered up and encouraged by his creator. We’ve heard these quotes before, “Be Strong and Courageous”  and “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life” and “I will not leave your or forsake you”.  Yup, Joshua’s got it made. But read on.  The very next verse. The Terms and Conditions:

“Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.”

If he doesn’t follow the Torah, he will NOT have those protections.  In fact, if you read on, The second battle Israel entered, they got whipped.  Why? Because one soldier had broken the instructions by keeping plunder which was devoted to destruction.

There is a very famous verse in Acts 10 about Yehovah declaring all food clean. Peter is shown in a vision all kinds of clean and unclean animals which he refuses to eat. But Yehovah says, “What God has made clean, you must not consider unholy.”  If you stop here, put down your bible, pick up your pork rinds and turn the game back on, you’ve got it made. But if you read on to the end of the chapter, Peter explains the lesson to the house full of unclean gentiles.  A good Jew would never have even entered a house full of gentiles, except for his vision.  But read on.  In the next chapter, Peter is challenged by other Jews and criticized for eating with such slime, but he explains his vision and it’s meaning a second time.  It’s not about food.

Leviticus 26 holds amazing blessings and promise of great abundance, if you only read verses 4-13.  Rain for your crops, Grapes for your wine, Peace, Military power, Tons of food, and Freedom from bondage. Sweet! Oh wait, I forgot to read the terms and conditions.  Back to verse 1.  IF you obey my sabbaths..IF you don’t bow down to idols, IF you walk in my statutes and observe my commandments.  But read on. You might want to sit down for this. The next 15 verses line out what we’ll get when we don’t obey. Panic, Disease, Starvation, Military destruction, Wild beasts, Desolation.  Utter removal from our own land so it can have the sabbatical without us.  Eating your own children.

We must not continue along this path of highlighting his goodness and blacking-out his terms.  We must not continue along this path of ignoring the wages of sin.  If you think God is love, you’re right, but he’s much more as well, he is justice and fury and destruction.

If I stop here, then I’ve cheated you.  Did you catch me?  We’ve only gotten part way through Leviticus 26.  Have we learned nothing?  READ ON.  Although he’s cast us out of the land, and we’re in the land of our enemies, there is a promise.  IF we confess, IF we humble, and IF we make amends, he will remember his covenant with Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham.  IF we turn, he will not utterly destroy us that he may be our Elohim and fulfill his promise to our fathers.

You’ve read this far. If you haven’t opened your bible to Leviticus 26 yet, then you’re trusting some guy on the internet who’s done the same old trick.  Cherry-Picked verses to prove himself right.  Trusting in human nature to skim the cover and claim you’ve read the book.

Outcry Ministries | Where Is Your Gaze – Torah Ministry

Where is your gaze? Are you wanting to learn Torah, but seem to be hitting a wall? Maybe you have joined a Hebrew Roots assembly, or a Messianic Synagogue. Maybe you have even converted to Judaism because you have been told that it is Jewish Law. I’m here to tell you that no matter where you are, if you will fix your gaze on the Creator of the Universe, He will fix His gaze on you! There are many Torah Ministries out there, and while no one Torah ministry is exactly alike, they are all very similar. We, however want to share the Truth with you. You have to die to yourself. You CANNOT bring your past with you. If you have anything left to give to the King of Babylon, you cannot enter the Kingdom of Israel. Upon whom are you fixing your gaze?

Messiah’s Torah | Who Are You?

Long ago I had a teacher challenge us to answer the question, “Who are you?”, without associating yourself with a group.  I thought it would be simple. I’m a Student, Christian, Drummer, Nerd, American.  Any adjective I chose for myself came with an association.  I am one of the students, a resident of America, in the drumline, follower of Messiah.  It was then that I realized that I was inescapably grouped with those who were similar.  When telling someone who I was, there was an automatic assumption that they knew many things about me because of those with whom I had associated myself. That’s the problem with stereotypes, they’re a real time saver.  So, like it or not, the question, “Who Are You?” is really asking, “Who are you with?”

Who Are You With?

For decades, I’ve thought I knew who I was.  I especially knew who I WAS NOT.  I was not a Jock, I was not a Canadian, I was not a Jew.  I thought I understood that I, a Christian, believed in God, believed in Messiah, and that I was in the newest and luckiest religion, because I didn’t have to do anything.  I was lucky to not be a Jew and have all those complicated rules, but just believed in Messiah and got a pass. Grace Rocks!  I knew that Messiah was born a Jew, but he was constantly telling the Jewish leaders that their traditions were silly, so he obviously switched to not being a Jew right?

I had it all figured out except for one nagging phrase: His Chosen People.   I was a Gentile. Because there’s only two things, Jews and Gentiles, right? But Israel was his chosen people, not just the Jews. I didn’t know the difference between Israel and Jews.  To my mind, Israel was a place, the Jews were a religion, and I was neither. I now understand that the Jews were the part of Israel’s 12 tribes that kept the laws, but added additional layers just to be safe. If Israel was his chosen people and they had to obey a bunch of laws throughout their generations, how did I fit in?  I don’t do those laws, I just believe and read the New Testament. How is it that his Chosen People still have to follow all those laws, but I, a nobody, get in for free?

In fact, I had it wrong.  I didn’t know who I was.  I didn’t even know who I was with.  Yehovah chose Abraham, and his son Isaac, and his son Jacob.  He renamed Jacob to Israel and claimed all of his offspring for himself. His mark on them was their obedience of his rules.  His inheritance to them was the covenant to obey and continue to be his.  And the children of Israel did everything right and no one ever joined them and no one ever left and they lived happily ever after. The End.

Who Is Israel?

Actually no.  Throughout the Old Testament others joined with Israel and were allowed to take part in the promise.  Even at the Exodus, many Egyptians left and became Israelites. The mixed multitude.  The Torah states repeatedly that strangers could be part of Israel if they obeyed his commands. They are adopted by following his laws. On the flip side, many left Israel by choosing to disregard his laws and became scattered into all the nations.  These are the lost sheep of Israel.  Still part of his Chosen People, but scattered across the globe.  They’re still out there and they don’t know who they are either.

So, we have Israel, Lost Israel, Adopted Israel, and Me.  Messiah came for me right?

Then I read something very scary. Matthew 15. From his own mouth,

“I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel. It is not right to take the children’s food and throw it to the dogs.”  But the Canaanite woman begs, “Even the dogs eat the crumbs from the master’s table.”

And he does it. He heals her daughter by the words of his mouth.

Maybe I’m the dog.  Not of Israel.  The woman above was Canaanite. Not a Jew who kept the Torah, and not of Israel. I have no proof that she began keeping his laws, but for that moment, he treated her like an heir. In Matthew 8, he heals the centurion’s servant and commends the centurion’s faith.

“Even in Israel, I have not seen such faith.”

But read on.

“.. And I say unto you, that many shall come from the east and the west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.”

Messiah’s Torah

That’s me. But how will I sit down WITH Abraham?  Simple. Become like THEM. Follow their creator. Our creator.  Hear and do his words, his commandments, his law. Return from the pig-slop and beg to be WITH the father.  He made his word into flesh (John 10) and sent his son to pass over our former sins (Romans 3) to give all the nations a chance to hear his commandments again and obey. The Messiah said in John 7 that his commandments are not his own, but from the one who sent him. He’s actually quoting Isaiah 29 when he mocks the Jewish leaders in Mark 7. He’s mocking their additional traditions, because they were ignoring the original law. The law given from the beginning that was to be observed throughout all our generations. Even now. Even by me.

Since Israel was so prolific and scattered in every direction, his bloodline is likely in every continent. I MAY be a part of that line, I may not. I’ll never know.  I may be the prodigal son or I may be a Sojourner. I may be the dog or the lost sheep or the lion of Judah. Numbers 15 says that the the same law applies to us all, stranger and native born alike.
Now I know who I am. I know who I’m with. If I hear and do his law, I am Israel. Who are you?

Fasting Is Afflicting | Yom HaKippurim – Learn Torah

I have seen many people decide to not fast on Yom HaKippurim in the past few years. The main reason for this is because the large ministries teach that “afflicting” your soul doesn’t mean fasting. We are going to take a look at this in a simple scriptural study we like to call “Fasting Is Afflicting.”

AFFLICTION

26 Yehovah spoke to Moshe, saying, 27“On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; it shall be set apart convocation for you, and you shall humble your souls and present an offering by fire to Yehovah. 28“You shall not do any work on this same day, for it is a day of atonement, to make atonement on your behalf before Yehovah your Elohim. 29“If there is any person who will not humble himself on this same day, he shall be cut off from his people.30“As for any person who does any work on this same day, that person I will destroy from among his people. 31“You shall do no work at all. It is to be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwelling places. 32“It is to be a sabbath of complete rest to you, and you shall humble your souls; on the ninth of the month at evening, from evening until evening you shall keep your sabbath.”

What is this word humble? It has been translated from the Hebrew word עָנָה (anah).

Let’s take a look at what the Strong’s Dictionary has to say.

Definition
to be bowed down or afflicted
NASB Translation
afflict (16), afflict him at all (1), afflicted (22), affliction (1), disturbed (1), do violence (1), force (1), humble (12), humbled (6), humbling (1), mistreat (1), oppressed (1), oppressors (1), ravish (1), ravished (2), silenced (1), submit (1), treated her harshly (1), violate (1), violated (5), weakened (1)

You can see that this word literally means afflicted, or to bow down. This is the problem with this passage. It doesn’t say the Hebrew word for fasting here. This is where many justify the observance of Yom HaKippurim without a fast. Sadly, this is a very wrong interpretation of the passage that is caused by casual study and fleshly desire. I too once believed that it wasn’t that big of a deal whether or not we fasted on this day. That changed as I took the ENTIRE Scriptures into account on this subject of affliction, or fasting.

It is also important to note how severe the punishment is for NOT afflicting our souls on this day. In other words, we should probably put a lot of study into this so that we avoid being cut off and destroyed!

Fasting

So let’s get back to the Hebrew word for fasting. Why is it not used in this passage? Wouldn’t it be a lot easier to prove a fast if the actual word was used?  Let’s find the word in Scripture and then look it up in the Strong’s dictionary. We will go to Daniel chapter 9 to start.

3So I gave my attention to Yehovah Elohim to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes. 4I prayed to Yehovah my Elohim and confessed and said, “Alas, O Yehovah, the great and awesome Elohim, who keeps His covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments, 5we have sinned, committed iniquity, acted wickedly and rebelled, even turning aside from Your commandments and ordinances. 6“Moreover, we have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, our princes, our fathers and all the people of the land. (Daniel 9)

Ok, so before we get to the Hebrew word for fasting, I would like to point out a few things here. Daniel is fasting because they had TRANSGRESSED the Torah. He was fasting as an act of repentance as he was recognizing that he needed forgiveness. This is VERY important. This is EXACTLY what Yom HaKippurim is for, ATONEMENT. It seems that Daniel understood how serious this transgression was. Now on to the Hebrew word for fasting. This word is צוֹם (tsom). Here is the Strong’s definition.

Definition
fasting, a fast
NASB Translation
fast (17), fasted (1), fasting (7), times of fasting (1).

We can see that there is no question that this word means to fast. Let’s look at another passage where Daniel is referencing fasting…

2In those days, I, Daniel, had been mourning for three entire weeks. 3I did not eat any tasty food, nor did meat or wine enter my mouth, nor did I use any ointment at all until the entire three weeks were completed. (Daniel 10)

Daniel is saying that he fasted for 3 weeks. Why is this significant? We have to keep reading.

12Then he said to me, “Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to your words. (Daniel 10)

It is interesting to note that the word for humbling used in this passage is the same word used in Leviticus 23 for the instructions on Yom HaKippurim. Why would the Messenger of Yehovah refer to what Daniel did as affliction? This is a question that is important to answer. Remember, the punishment for NOT observing Yom HaKippurim is a serious thing, and should not be taken lightly. Let’s look at some more examples of this idea of affliction.

13But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth;
I humbled (anah) my soul with fasting (tsom),
And my prayer kept returning to my bosom. (Psalm 35)

And again…

3‘Why have we fasted (tsom) and You do not see?
Why have we humbled (anah) ourselves and You do not notice?’
Behold, on the day of your fast you find your desire,
And drive hard all your workers. (Isaiah 58)

Here is another one…

21Then I proclaimed a fast (tsom) there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble (anah) ourselves before our Elohim to seek from Him a safe journey for us, our little ones, and all our possessions. 22For I was ashamed to request from the king troops and horsemen to protect us from the enemy on the way, because we had said to the king, “The hand of our Elohim is favorably disposed to all those who seek Him, but His power and His anger are against all those who forsake Him.”23So we fasted (tsom) and sought our Elohim concerning this matter, and He listened to our entreaty. (Ezra 8)

So we can see that there are many clarifying passages to help us understand the meaning of this word AFFLICTION. In the Ezra passage above, we can see this idea of fasting is directly linked to transgression again. I think this is pretty clear, but still there are those who are not willing to hear.

We must not just take the easy road, but we must study to show ourselves approved. It is very clear that the idea of Yom HaKippurim is more than just feeling sad. It involves affliction. If you look up the many definitions for affliction, most of them have to do with things that we are not permitted by Torah, to do to ourselves. Things that involve causing harm to our own bodies. There is a difference between being afflicted, and afflicting yourself. This is an important thing because why would Yehovah instruct us to do something to ourselves that was against Torah? HE WOULDN’T! He is calling us to fast.

Oh, but what about Isaiah 58?

6“Is this not the fast which I choose,
To loosen the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the bands of the yoke,
And to let the oppressed go free
And break every yoke?

7“Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry
And bring the homeless poor into the house;
When you see the naked, to cover him;
And not to hide yourself from your own flesh? (Isaiah 58)

This is the passage that many use when justifying their tradition of NOT fasting on Yom Hakippurim. When looking at this passage in context, as well as using all of the other information we have covered so far, it is very simple to see that Isaiah was not prophesying against the fast of Yom HaKippurim. Let’s take a closer look. Lets go back to verse 3…

3‘Why have we fasted and You do not see?
Why have we humbled ourselves and You do not notice?’
Behold, on the day of your fast you find your desire,
And drive hard all your workers. (Isaiah 58)

First off, it is VERY interesting that Israel couples fasting with humbling here… Secondly, why did Yehovah not accept their fast? Because they were NOT following all of the commands. They were driving hard their workers which is a transgression of the basic instructions for Shabbat. Israel was not obeying the simplest of commands, so why would their observance of this day be accepted? If we move on, we see that Yehovah instructs His people to take care of the needy. Share bread with them. This is usually used to say that we are to eat on Yom HaKippurim. But if we keep reading, we can clearly see that that is NOT the case. Yehovah is trying to communicate that we should give of ourselves EVERY day to the needy. We should take care of the poor, the orphan, the widow EVERY day. When we do that THEN He will accept our humbling on Yom HaKippurim.

8“Then your light will break out like the dawn,
And your recovery will speedily spring forth;
And your righteousness will go before you;
The glory of Yehovah will be your rear guard.

9“Then you will call, and Yehovah will answer;
You will cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’
If you remove the yoke from your midst,
The pointing of the finger and speaking wickedness, (Isaiah 58)

You see, they CRIED out to Yehovah “Why do you not see? Why do you not notice?” And He told them it was because they were not taking care of the needy people around them. He then says when you take care of the needy, THEN I will hear your cry and notice your offerings. We also have to look at verse 10.

10And if you give yourself to the hungry
And satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
Then your light will rise in darkness
And your gloom will become like midday.

The word for afflicted there is the same word used in Leviticus to instruct us to be afflicted. ANAH. Isn’t it interesting that it is used interchangeably with HUNGRY?

Oh, and we MUST keep reading!

13“If because of the sabbath, you turn your foot
From doing your own pleasure on My holy day,
And call the sabbath a delight, the holy day of Yehovah honorable,
And honor it, desisting from your own ways,
From seeking your own pleasure
And speaking your own word,

14Then you will take delight in Yehovah,
And I will make you ride on the heights of the earth;
And I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father,
For the mouth of Yehovah has spoken.”

What Yehovah is trying to tell His people is this… If His people would take care of the afflicted, AKA HUNGRY, He will provide something much greater than food to Israel. He will feed them with HERITAGE. We need not worry about afflicting ourselves, AKA going hungry, on Yom HaKippurim, but trust that Yehovah takes care of us and blesses us when we OBEY ALL that He commands us.

Are You Still Doubting This?

Are you still not convinced? Its ironic that most of the people who decide to refrain from a fast on Yom HaKippurim are messianics or hebrew rooters who follow the “spirit” of the law over the “letter”. Why is this ironic? Let’s take a look at a passage that most of these people overlook within their own messianic writings.

9When considerable time had passed and the voyage was now dangerous, since even the fast was already over, Paul began to admonish them, (Acts 27)

So what does this have to do with fasting on Yom HaKippurim? let’s take a look at the word used here for fast…

nésteia: fasting, a fast

Original Word: νηστεία, ας, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: nésteia
Phonetic Spelling: (nace-ti’-ah)
Short Definition: fasting, the day of atonement
Definition: fasting, the day of atonement.

If you study the weather patterns of the ancient middle east, you will find that the time of year after Yom HaKippurim was not a great time to sail. This was the winter, or rainy season, and storms were popping up all over the place. While I think Paul is very wrong on some things, I find it interesting that he calls this day THE FAST. Why did he say that? Maybe because he knew that it meant fasting, and so did everyone else. He joined Daniel, David, and Ezra and many more in their understanding of this topic.

May you repent, and find TRUE understanding as we approach this Day of Atonement. May you not worry about going without for one measly day out of the year, but be ready to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to receive atonement from our savior, Yehovah. Don’t be cut off for not following a simple instruction to humble yourselves. If fasting is not required, oh well, you acted above and beyond the instruction. On the contrary, if it is how we are to humble ourselves, well, you might be cut off from your people for being to weak to go without food for 24 hours….

May your name be found in the book of LIFE!

10When I wept in my soul with fasting,
It became my reproach. (Psalm 69)

Shalom.

Law Of Gravity – Learn Torah

I was lying awake last night for a few hours, and Yehovah was teaching me how we ALL live according to Law, everyday. The laws that most of us live under are for our protection and it is NO different in regards to the Torah! Lets take the law of gravity for instance. What goes up, must come down. So in other words, if you jump off the empire state building, without any flying device or parachute, it will most definitely not end well for you! So, one could say the punishment of the law of gravity, when jumping off a tall building, is DEATH! We have a choice to make!

Do we jump and fall into the punishment category, or do we abide by this law and live? Most of us would choose the latter and live! We would be foolish to jump, knowing the outcome would be death! Either foolish or arrogant, thinking we are untouchable! Either way, its not a good decision! Well, what about the person that may not know about the law of gravity, or doesn’t fully understand the law? Well, if they jumped, because that’s all they knew to do, without anything or anyone to save them, they would most definitely end up just like the first guy! But, this is where a “savior” comes in! Lets switch stories here!

Torah Covenant

Yehovah gave His Torah for our instruction! Torah was given so we could live in freedom from this world and in the Fathers house! We, as humans, transgressed the Torah, which most definitely deserves death, unless we had someone or something to save us! Much like the person who doesn’t understand the law of gravity jumps, without a savior we would go splat! But Yehovah came and replaced us with himself! Just like when He made the covenant with Abraham. Yehovah put Abraham into a deep sleep and walked through the split animals by Himself. He was telling Abraham, “I got this.” In the same way, He took the punishment of the Law upon Himself so that we could live! This is the true Gospel, that we can now live without the punishment of the law because he took it for us! He has made right, our wrongs, and calls us to go sin no more!

We know that according to our bibles, sin is transgression of the Torah! Its important to remember here, that His Torah is for our protection! Much the same as understanding the Law of gravity, when we understand the Torah, we can live at peace and have life! Ok, so back to the person who jumps and doesn’t know better! That was us, until we heard the Torah! Lets look in the scriptures to a similar account! Lets go to the book of 2nd Chronicles and take a look at King Josiah!

2nd Chronicles 34:14-21

When they were bringing out the money which had been brought into the house of Yehovah, Hilkiah the priest found the Torah of Yehovah given by Moses. Hilkiah responded and said to Shaphan the scribe, “I have found the Torah in the house of Yehovah.” And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan. Then Shaphan brought the book to the king and reported further word to the king, saying, “Everything that was entrusted to your servants they are doing. They have also emptied out the money which was found in the house of Yehovah, and have delivered it into the hands of the supervisors and the workmen.”

Moreover, Shaphan the scribe told the king saying, “Hilkiah the priest gave me a book.” And Shaphan read from it in the presence of the king. When the king heard the words of the Torah, he tore his clothes. Then the king commanded Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying, “Go, inquire of Yehovah for me and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book which has been found; for great is the wrath of Yehovah which is poured out on us because our fathers have not observed the word of Yehovah, to do according to all that is written in this book.”

Prevenient Grace – Life Before Torah

At the beginning of this chapter we read that King Josiah did right in the sight of Yehovah. He followed His father not turning to the right or the left. Before they found the Torah, Josiah was doing his best to follow what he knew to be right. Which is what Yehovah wants all of us to do. But, upon finding the Torah as they were cleaning out the temple, Josiah wept, and had to ask what was going to happen to them. He realized at that moment, that his fathers did not follow all that was written in it and knew that he had to repent! Josiah is like the person who jumps because it’s all he knew! But, when the Word was revealed, he realized that his life didn’t match up and wept! He received the word with a humble heart and lived according to it for the rest of his days!

Not Too Difficult

2nd Chronicles 34:33

Josiah removed all the abominations from all the lands belonging to the sons of Israel, and made all who were present in Israel to serve Yehovah their God. Throughout his lifetime they did not turn from following Yehovah, the God of their fathers.

Throughout his lifetime??? Many churches teach that the Law is too difficult to follow. This is why their messiah came, to free them from the law! This is NOT true! The Torah is liberty, life, easy, on our hearts and lips that we may observe all the He commanded us! You see, the pastor that teaches the Law is done away with, is like the first person who jumps off the building. He knows that the Law is good, but doesn’t take the time to live according to it, because he would rather live according to what he defines as freedom. The book of Hebrews tells us what happens to someone who defies the law even though they know better.

No Grace For Willful Sin

Hebrews 10:26-31

For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has set aside the Torah given by Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again, “Yehovah will judge His people.” It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

The Blood Of Torah

The blood of the sacrifice does not cover the man who willfully continues in his own way of life, after hearing the truth of the Torah. The ground is going to feel pretty hard, and there will be no grace for him. If I know about the law of gravity, and jump off the building anyways, I will get what I deserve. Yeshua came to save the Lost sheep of Israel. He came to bring them back to His Father. The sheep are not free to live however they want! The Shepherd protects them through His commands and they live in freedom from death! Yehovah catches us, and places us on solid ground. If we again jump willfully, we have trampled the Son of Elohim underfoot, and insulted the spirit of Grace!

So What Now?

May you receive His truth with a humble heart, knowing that His ways are higher than yours, and your pastors! Don’t take man’s word for it, but test everything according to the scriptures. The scriptures that Yeshua read and taught. The Berean’s used these Scriptures in the Book of  Acts. Their Scriptures did NOT include the New Testament that is in your bible. Paul was not referring to your bible when he said, “All Scripture is Elohim breathed!” He was referring to the scriptures that they had. This is called the Tanakh, or what Christianity refers to as the Old Testament. If the Bereans tested the scriptures to find out that Paul was speaking truth, this means that Paul taught TRUTH! IT WAS NO DIFFERENT THAN WHAT MOSES TAUGHT!

We have to leave behind the traditions of men, and receive His word. With humility we must begin to follow it as evidence of our love for Him! Our protection comes from the Torah! May Yehovah bless you as you seek His word. Let Him renew your mind, and repent in order to walk on solid ground! Shalom.

Fear of Leaving Circe (Church) – Learn Torah

Have you left the church yet? I am intrigued by the fight to keep such a demonic institution alive, and sadly the strongest warriors are those who claim to follow the TRUTH! The word church doesn’t exist in the text of the “New Testament”, and surprisingly, its origin isn’t so biblical either.
The word church comes from an Old English word “circe”. Webster’s Dictionary has a VERY surprising definition and origin for this word.

Fear of Leaving

The sad thing is, the church hasn’t really tried to hide it’s Mithraic Sun worship in the slightest bit. In fact it puts it’s pagan origins on display for the entire world to enjoy with it’s reuse of pagan holidays, statues, symbols and idols. A quick google search will bring up hundreds of articles proving the origins of the church, and it’s pagan heritage.

Mostly, the evidence that these men and women are fighting for early christianity is the use of the name of their mighty one. The church teaches its parishioners to worship the image and person of “Jesus Christ.” The worship of man is NEVER instructed in the Scriptures nor in the Messianic writings. This is an ancient religious practice created by men, who ironically wanted to be worshiped. What better way to get people to worship you, than convince them that the worship of men is permissible? This practice was the foundation of the christian church, and is the heritage that christianity holds so dear today.

So why are so many people fighting to get back to the “early church”?
The answer to this question is pretty obvious when you study humanity from a religious perspective. It is simple and clear. The reason men and women fight for the church, is FEAR.
FEAR?

FEAR

Fear is the main cause for everything wrong with our human nature. Fear that we will be rejected. People are afraid that they will lose our salvation. That they won’t inherit streets of gold. The list goes on and on… Humanity was lied to in the garden, and ironically has been believing this lie ever since. We want to be like Elohim! We want to eat of EVERY tree, not just 99% of them. We want our own empires. The enemy lied and told us we could be like Yehovah, and we believed it then, and still believe it today.

Why are so many people driven by fear?
Fear is an interesting word. In the Scriptures we are instructed to NOT FEAR more than ANY other instruction. We are then instructed to FEAR Yehovah multiple times. Do the Scriptures contradict themselves? ABSOLUTELY NOT! We just need to understand the context behind this word FEAR.

Fear is worship. When we are instructed to NOT fear, it is ALWAYS in reference to our enemies. Do not WORSHIP the enemy. When we are instructed TO FEAR, it is in reference to the Creator of The Universe. We are instructed to WORSHIP Yehovah! This is a very simple idea, with VERY complex repercussions. When we worship the enemy, we are ruled by terror and uncertainty. Alternatively, when we worship the Creator we are ruled by lovingkindness and righteousness. Are you afraid of ANYTHING? This is a sign that you have not let go of your past, but are in fact worshiping the enemy in some way or another.

Most people will not leave the church because of fear of losing something that they have been taught is valuable, but in actuality it is WORTHLESS! They think they have been saved in the church, and now they can bring that over into the TRUTH. This idea is FALSE salvation, and does not line up with the Scriptures.

DEATH

We are instructed to DIE to ourselves. A dead man can’t take anything with him. A seed was planted in you within the church, and it was NOT the seed of Yehovah. It was a seed bearing NO fruit. This plant MUST be uprooted, and a NEW seed must be planted. A seed that will grow a BEAUTIFUL, fruit bearing tree. You do not graft a thorn bush into an olive tree, and you cannot graft a christian into Israel. That christian must LEAVE EVERYTHING behind him, and be reborn into something that can be grafted into Israel. This is a very simple idea, that is lost by most, because they just can’t believe that jesus is the false messiah. They are AFRAID of leaving jesus, for the TRUE messiah, Yehoshua.

Because of this fear, many will not inherit the Kingdom. They will hear the words “Depart from me, I never knew you.” When we aren’t willing to leave the lies that we have been taught about someone, we are willing to get to know them. This is true with EVERY

Torah Ministry | Do Not Fear – A Scary Trend

Shalom. As we have been simplifying our lives the past few years, I have more time to notice the lives around me. As good as this is, sadly the majority of the lives around me have been filled with fear. By fear I mean, fear of the government. Fear of radical religion. Fear that our closest friends may not enter into the kingdom. Etc… Yehovah commands us to NOT fear more than the majority of any command in the scriptures. Granted, we live in a world that is chaotic at best, and bound for destruction at worst. If it’s not the imminent collapse of the world system that breeds fear, it’s the threat of radical religious war that has many people in the bonds of fearful assumption.

Why did Yehovah instruct us to not fear? I know, I know, “Fear is the beginning of wisdom.” I guess the question we must ask ourselves is, “What is fear?” I would like to submit to you that “Fear” is WORSHIP. Worship? YES! Worship! Sadly most people have missed this simple fact. Why is the Fear of Yehovah, the beginning of wisdom? Because when we begin to worship Him in the correct way, we are granted revelation of His truth! Sadly, the very people who say they have revelation, messianics included, fear MEN more than Yehovah. The compromise in the message of some of the most influential “Hebrew Roots” teachers proves my point. Not to mention the countless young “ex-christians” who are trying to be “christians” to save their “christian brothers.”

Who do you fear? Or maybe the question should be, “Who do you WORSHIP?”

I saw a comment on a youtube video the other day. This video was made by an individual who used to be one of the boldest truth teachers out there. He has since compromised his message greatly because of compromise he has allowed in to his own life by justifying that certain instructions are up for our interpretation. So, back to the comment. This individual, who confesses a “Torah Pursuant” lifestyle, said this, “I totally understand that the Torah is the Truth. Amen! But no other definition of truth?” He went on to say that the idea that Torah is the ONLY definition of truth was going to turn christians off to the truth. So, who is being worshiped if our goal is to keep men turned on to the truth? MAN! The truth is, people love their neighbor more than they love Yehovah and they will leave truth in certain areas in order to please the ones who are walking in lawlessness. How do we convince someone their lives are lawless, if we tell them what they want to hear?

For this is a rebellious people, false sons,
Sons who refuse to listen
To the instruction of Yehovah;
Who say to the seers, “You must not see visions”;
And to the prophets, “You must not prophesy to us what is right,
Speak to us pleasant words,
Prophesy illusions.
“Get out of the way, turn aside from the path,
Let us hear no more about the Holy One of Israel.”
Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel,

“Since you have rejected this word
And have put your trust in oppression and guile, and have relied on them,
Therefore this iniquity will be to you
Like a breach about to fall,
A bulge in a high wall,
Whose collapse comes suddenly in an instant,
Whose collapse is like the smashing of a potter’s jar,
So ruthlessly shattered
That a sherd will not be found among its pieces
To take fire from a hearth
Or to scoop water from a cistern.”
For thus Yehovah Elohim, the Holy One of Israel, has said,

“In repentance and rest you will be saved,
In quietness and trust is your strength.”
But you were not willing,
And you said, “No, for we will flee on horses,”
Therefore you shall flee!
“And we will ride on swift horses,”
Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift.
One thousand will flee at the threat of one man;
You will flee at the threat of five,
Until you are left as a flag on a mountain top
And as a signal on a hill. (Isaiah 30:9-17)

When we try to convince our neighbors by being relevant and telling them what they want to hear, or “pleasant words,” we are helping them stay exactly where they are and taking their position upon us. Yehovah is not the one who is being worshiped here, but the neighbor who doesn’t want to walk in the way of Truth. How are we and our neighbors saved? IN REPENTANCE AND REST. You see, the last part of the passage above ends with people fleeing. Why are they fleeing? Because they are worshiping the oppressor. They turned their ears from the instruction of Yehovah and their cries have become an ABOMINATION (Proverbs 28:9). I write all of this to warn those of you who are being caught in this “Christian Roots movement,” or whatever else you want to call it, that relevance to man is never what saves man! Stand in truth! Speak it! Live it! Repent and rest in HIM! That is where salvation is. YOU CANNOT SAVE ANYONE! Especially if you are bending the truth in efforts to not offend them! Yehovah is the one who draws hearts unto himself. Woe to you if you stand in the way of a heart seeking for truth, because you are trying to make them feel good about the house from which they came! WAKE UP! His word is Truth. His Torah is truth! THERE IS NO OTHER DEFINITION! Yeshua has not added to the Torah. HE IS THE TORAH! Hear the sound of the Shafar and fear (worship) Yehovah! The fear (worship) of man will kill you. Shalom.

Outcry Ministries | Balaam’s Error – Torah Truth

2 Kepha (Peter) 2:1-22

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

For if Elohim did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the unrighteous; and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live unrighteous lives thereafter; and if He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds), then the Master knows how to rescue the righteous from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment, and especially those who indulge the flesh in its corrupt desires and despise authority.

Daring, self-willed, they do not tremble when they revile angelic majesties, whereas angels who are greater in might and power do not bring a reviling judgment against them before the Master. But these, like unreasoning animals, born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, reviling where they have no knowledge, will in the destruction of those creatures also be destroyed, suffering wrong as the wages of doing wrong. They count it a pleasure to revel in the daytime. They are stains and blemishes, reveling in their deceptions, as they carouse with you, having eyes full of adultery that never cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having a heart trained in greed, accursed children; forsaking the right way, they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; but he received a rebuke for his own transgression, for a mute donkey, speaking with a voice of a man, restrained the madness of the prophet.

These are springs without water and mists driven by a storm, for whom the black darkness has been reserved. For speaking out arrogant words of vanity they entice by fleshly desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error, promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved. For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Master and Savior Yeshua the Messiah, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them. It has happened to them according to the true proverb, “A dog returns to its own vomit,” and, “A sow, after washing, returns to wallowing in the mire.”

Line-1

Sadly, it is becoming more evident each day, that there are those who claim Torah, but follow after Balaam. What is this “Error of Balaam”? We have to look closely at this text to see what his error was.

Let’s look at the fruit of these men…

Right off the bat, we know that they are teaching falsehood. Secondly, and more importantly, they are WITHIN the true body! Kepha is NOT talking about Christian pastors! He is talking about teachers within the truth movement! We have evidence of this by skipping ahead in this chapter to verse 18.

So we see here, that these False Prophets are leading those who have ESCAPED the doctrines of man astray! We can safely conclude that these men are not JUST Christian teachers, but “Messianic” Teachers as well, who are within the Truth movement, that are leading those who have escaped mans religious system right back into it! These are the men who claim to teach Torah, but are silencing the voice of Yehovah and telling people, “It’s ok to still be involved in ‘put your own doctrine of man here’. You can learn from these men even if they don’t follow Torah.” ABSURD! Learning the scripture from a Christian university, or any other institution that does not teach all of Torah, is like learning to be intimate from a harlot! Christianity has DEFILED the scriptures just as the harlot has defiled intimacy! I was in a conversation with the OT Prof at a major Christian University recently. He was trying to convince me, and all who were listening in, that we DON’T HAVE TO KEEP TORAH! This is what the Enemy has been doing since the garden. If you are the Enemy, how do you defeat Israel? By convincing them to NOT obey! Samson’s Hair anybody? He lost His strength when he was in compromise! Our strength is OBEDIENCE! So, while this “Professor” might have knowledge, it is a knowledge that leads to death, and is trying to take every child of Yehovah with it!

The Torah commands us to tear down the high places of the false religious system! Yeshua followed this command when He flipped the tables in the temple, and we too must follow this command by bringing these lies to the LIGHT! It is not “happenstance” that a good majority of “teachers” in the TRUE body have a degree in ministry or theology from a CHRISTIAN University! Wake up people! What was Balaam’s error? He convinced the TRUE body to DISOBEY the commands of Yehovah! These False prophets (only the ones who defend Christianity in one way or another) are leading men and woman, young and old alike, right back into the vomit they once left, by preaching a “Tickle your ears” message to them! Shaul NEVER ministered in a sun temple! READ IT FOR YOURSELF! He was in the synagogues, teaching obedience to Torah AND the testimony of Yeshua. These modern “Balaams” are following in Balaam’s footsteps, just as Kepha said they would! LEAVE KORAH’S CAMP! If you don’t, you WILL be swallowed up, just as Kepha says these False Prophets will receive their judgment, which was appointed for them LONG AGO!

Shalom.

Learning Sex From The Harlot? – Some Things Never Change

I often lay awake at times, thinking about relationships that have been lost because of different traditional mountains that we must cross in our fellowship with others. This Journey of “crossing over” is definitely not the easiest journey I have ever been on, but it sure is the most rewarding! I have realized along the way, that some things never change! I have seen so many people catch a glimpse of truth, but instead of digging further in to find more revelation, they take their small treasure back to the location they were leaving, only to get their treasure stolen, and be told that it wasn’t worth anything in the first place. This saddens me greatly! Along these lines is where I get my inspiration for this post!

The question will always come up in the life of a “christian” who has caught a glimpse of truth. “Do I have to leave the church?” Or even better, “Do I have to leave this christian school?” I think most of us that have actually crossed over from man’s ways into YHVH’s truth, have most likely dealt with this question at some point in our journey. This is one of the toughest questions, and likewise has one of the toughest answers that we will encounter on this wilderness journey. Having to leave EVERYTHING that you have been taught is not an easy feat, but it is a NECESSARY prerequisite for any individual looking to be born again.

We are taught in the Torah, to not learn the ways of the nations (Jeremiah 10:1-10). We are told that we shouldn’t bow down at their high places (Exodus 23:24), and that if we encounter their images, idols, or religious items, we are to TEAR THEM DOWN. So, in this post, we will be touching on one who is frequenting these places in the same manner as everyone else who is there. If you are not “teaching”, you are being taught.

NOWHERE in Scripture do we have an account of Righteous men sitting quietly in a pagan sun temple, minding their own business, whispering to the person next to them about truth. If Hebrews were in a sun temple, it was because they were tearing it down. They DEFINITELY were not there to try and “chew the meat, spit the bones.” Daniel didn’t learn in a sun temple, and he didn’t eat the kings meat, so he didn’t have to worry about spitting bones! The idea that we can get truth from a place that is founded on outright defilement of the Scriptures, is the same as saying, “I am going to learn how to please my spouse, by learning from the Harlot!” THIS IS FOOLISHNESS! If you learn sex from a harlot, you will be promiscuous before sundown! It’s time to step up and be Hebrews! What is a Hebrew? Someone who crosses over from old self to new self. I mentioned earlier that leaving everything is a prerequisite for being born again. Let me explain it this way. If you still have things from your past, you have not died to self, therefore you CANNOT be born again. We must die to self (leave everything! Names, beliefs, songs, titles, family, etc.). Then we must be born AGAIN into His likeness. The one who does this does not frequent the sun temple, but stands against them and tears down their idols. I have said this many times along this journey. If you are truly standing for Torah in a sun temple, you will be asked to leave, or everyone will help you tear it down! If we know what the word says but in attempt to not offend someone who is not submitted to that word, act differently, we are transgressing HIS WORD!

“These are the laws and right-rulings which you guard to do in the land which יהוה Elohim of your fathers is giving you to possess, all the days that you live on the soil. “Completely destroy all the places where the nations which you are dispossessing served their mighty ones, on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree. “And you shall break down their altars, and smash their pillars, and burn their Ashĕrim with fire. And you shall cut down the carved images of their mighty ones and shall destroy their name out of that place. “Do not do so to יהוה your Elohim, but seek the place which יהוה your Elohim chooses, out of all your tribes, to put His Name there, for His Dwelling Place, and there you shall enter. “And there you shall take your burnt offerings, and your offerings, and your tithes, and the contributions of your hand, and your vowed offerings, and your voluntary offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock. “And there you shall eat before יהוה your Elohim, and shall rejoice in all that you put your hand to, you and your households, in which יהוה your Elohim has blessed you. “Do not do as we are doing here today – each one doing whatever is right in his own eyes. “Because you have not yet entered the rest and the inheritance which יהוה your Elohim is giving you. “But you shall pass over the Yardĕn, and shall dwell in the land which יהוה your Elohim is giving you to inherit, and He shall give you rest from all your enemies round about, and you shall dwell in safety. “And it shall be, that unto the place which יהוה your Elohim chooses to make His Name dwell there, there you are to bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, and your offerings, and your tithes, and the contributions of your hand, and all your choice offerings which you vow to יהוה.” (Devarim 12:1-11)

So, can we learn sex from a harlot? We absolutely can, but this would be the most detrimental decision that we would ever make! If you learn from a harlot, you become a harlot.

Shalom
